Car with Driver in Lahore: How It Works and Who Drives You

Renting a car with a driver in Lahore means the car and the chauffeur come together in one daily rate, with no separate driver fee. What varies between companies is not the car. It is who they put behind the wheel, what has been checked, and what he is expected to do for twelve hours.

Chauffeur-driven hire is the normal way to rent a car in Lahore and in Pakistan generally, so the questions that reach our office before a booking is confirmed are rarely about the car. They are about cost, about what is charged on top, and above all about the driver.

This page answers them in that order, and the answers are the ones our team gives on the phone and on WhatsApp every week.

Can I Rent a Car with a Driver in Lahore?

Yes, and it is the standard way this service is bought here. You book a car for the day, a driver comes with it, and he stays with you for the duration of the booking. Sher Brothers has been renting cars with drivers since 2005, and today runs economy cars, sedans, SUVs, vans and coasters across Lahore.

You do not need a licence, a security deposit or documents to hire a car with a driver, which is the main practical difference from driving yourself. You tell us the date, the pickup address and roughly what the day looks like, and we assign a car and a driver to it.

Bookings run from a single day to a month or longer, and short notice is usually workable because our drivers park across the city rather than at one office. Same-day timings are covered further down.

How Much Does a Car with a Driver Cost in Lahore?

One rate covers the car and the driver together, quoted per day and set by the class of car, from economy hatchbacks up to luxury sedans and coasters. There is no separate driver fee added afterwards. Every current figure is published on our Lahore rates page rather than repeated here, so there is one place to check.

That single-rate structure is worth understanding before you compare quotes. A car hire price that looks lower elsewhere sometimes excludes the driver, and the fee appears once the car is already booked. Ours does not work that way, and the rate you are quoted is the rate for the car with its driver.

Rates differ by car class and by whether the day stays inside Lahore or goes outstation. See the full table on rent a car in Lahore: rates and terms, which lists every car with its seat count, its city rate and its outstation rate.

What Charges Apply on Top of the Rate?

Five things sit outside the daily rate: fuel on actual usage, motorway and Ring Road tolls, parking and entry tickets, the driver’s meal allowance on a day inside Lahore, and an overnight allowance when a trip keeps him away from the city. Overtime applies past the duty hours. Every figure is fixed and published.

None of these is settled with the driver himself. He is paid by us, so nothing changes hands for his time, and no driver should ever ask you for a tip. If one does, tell the office.

The two driver allowances are the part of that list this page can explain, because they are about him rather than about the car. On a day inside Lahore you can either pay the meal allowance or simply feed the driver, and it makes no difference to us. On a night away you can pay the overnight allowance and let him find his own room, or book one for him yourself. On a fixed intercity drop and on a same-day round trip neither applies, because his meals are our cost on those.

Every amount, along with the advance and cancellation terms, is published on rental charges and booking information.

What Is the Difference Between a Driver and a Professional Driver?

A driver operates the car. A professional driver, or chauffeur, is accountable for the whole journey: verified identity and character before he is assigned, punctual arrival, safe driving whatever the schedule, proper conduct and appearance, route knowledge across the city, and help with everything around the drive.

Sher Brothers drivers, NADRA and Police verified

The difference shows on the difficult days rather than the easy ones. Anyone can drive a clear road at eleven in the morning. What separates a professional is what happens when you are running late, when a road is blocked, when an elderly passenger needs an unplanned stop, or when a customer is short with him.

Every row below the first is a standard we assign against rather than a hope, and the sections that follow set out how each one works in practice.

The Questions Customers Ask Before They Book

Nine questions come up again and again once cost has been settled, and they are almost all about the driver rather than the car. These are the answers our team gives, in the same words. If your question is not here, ask it before you confirm rather than after the car arrives.

Is the driver experienced?

Yes. Every Sher Brothers driver is selected for safe driving, professional behaviour, and familiarity with the routes they regularly operate. Depending on your journey, we also try to assign drivers with relevant route experience, especially for long-distance travel and Northern Areas tours.

Will the driver arrive on time?

Yes. Drivers are scheduled according to the confirmed pickup time. Our operations team coordinates every booking and shares the pickup details with your assigned driver before departure. If your travel plans change, let us know as early as you can.

Does the driver drive safely?

Yes. Safe driving is one of our highest priorities. Our drivers are expected to follow traffic rules, maintain safe speeds, and prioritise passenger safety throughout the journey. Even when customers are running late, our policy is clear: safety comes first, because it is always better to arrive safely than to risk an accident.

Will the driver use a mobile phone while driving?

No. Drivers are expected to avoid using a mobile phone while the car is moving. If an urgent call is necessary, they may communicate using hands-free earphones while keeping their full attention on the road. If you see otherwise on your trip, tell the office.

Is the driver a smoker?

We understand that some customers prefer a non-smoking driver. Let our team know before confirming your booking, and we will assign a non-smoking driver for your journey. There is no charge for this, and the request needs to reach us before the driver sets off rather than when he arrives at your gate.

Will the driver be neatly dressed and presentable?

Yes. Our drivers are expected to maintain a clean and professional appearance and to help keep the car clean and presentable throughout the journey. Customers expect both a professional driver and a well-presented car, and the two are treated as one standard.

Does the driver know Lahore well and use Google Maps when required?

Yes. Our drivers regularly travel across Lahore, including DHA, Gulberg, Johar Town, Bahria Town, Valencia Town, Model Town, Lahore Cantt, Wapda Town, Allama Iqbal Town and Shahdara, and are familiar with major roads, shopping malls, business districts, hotels and Lahore Airport. They also use Google Maps whenever needed to navigate traffic conditions or unfamiliar locations.

Can the driver help with luggage?

Yes. Our drivers are happy to help load and unload your luggage at pickup and drop-off, and to place and secure bags on a rooftop carrier where one is needed.

Is an English-speaking driver available?

Yes. We regularly provide English-speaking drivers for overseas Pakistanis, foreign visitors, business travellers and international guests visiting Lahore. Tell our office at the time of enquiry and we will arrange a suitable driver for your journey. Give us as much notice as you can, since the pool of English-speaking drivers is smaller than the general one.

Are Sher Brothers Drivers Background-Checked and Police-Verified?

Yes. Every Sher Brothers driver is NADRA and Police verified. Verification happens before a driver is assigned to any booking, and it is one of the few things about a rental that a customer cannot check for themselves, which is exactly why we publish it plainly instead of letting it be assumed.

It matters most in the bookings where nobody can supervise the journey: a student travelling alone, elderly parents on the motorway, a relative being collected at three in the morning from the airport. Those are the trips where the identity of the driver is the whole decision.

If you would like verification confirmed for the specific driver coming to you, ask the office when you book and we will check his file rather than answer from memory.

How Many Hours Does a Driver Work in One Rental Day?

Twelve hours, on the same date, and you choose the start time. Beyond that the day runs into overtime, charged by the hour at a rate set by the class of car. A booking that crosses midnight counts as two rental days rather than one long one, because the driver’s duty clock resets with the date.

Most city days finish inside it comfortably. A nine o’clock pickup that ends at seven in the evening is ten hours and no overtime applies. The bookings that run over tend to be weddings and airport runs that shift late, and our team will tell you the extension charge before you agree to it rather than after.

Duty hours apply to daily rentals. A fixed intercity fare such as Lahore to Islamabad by car with a driver covers the whole journey however long the road takes, with no hourly overtime and no duty-hour limit.

How Is Every Booking Managed?

Through our office, not directly between you and the driver. We confirm the pickup time and address, pass on your stops, timings and any special requirement, and brief the driver before he leaves. If your plans change mid-trip, one call to the office updates the booking properly for everyone.

The Sher Brothers team at the Nawab Town office in Lahore

This is a policy we have kept for years, and it is the reason most of the questions above have a definite answer. It keeps travel information accurate, makes changes traceable, and lets the driver concentrate on driving while our team looks after booking updates and coordination.

1
Confirm the shape of the day

Pickup time and location, where you are going, and roughly when you expect to finish.

2
Tell us anything unusual

Added stops, medical or family requirements, a language or smoking preference, extra luggage.

3
We brief the driver

Pickup details and your requirements reach him before he sets off for you.

4
Changes come to the office

A later finish, a new stop, or a problem on the road: call us rather than negotiating at the roadside.

What Does the Driver Do Beyond Driving?

Loading and unloading luggage, securing bags on a rooftop carrier, helping elderly passengers in and out of the car, stopping at restaurants, prayer areas, fuel stations and rest areas on long trips, and waiting during meetings or family visits that form part of your booking. He is there for the day you booked, not only for the driving.

Rooftop carriers come up often on family bookings in the Honda BR-V, on group travel in the Hiace Grand Cabin, and on larger parties in the Coaster. Our drivers help place and secure the load before departure. We still ask customers to check it themselves before setting off, because the luggage remains their responsibility on the road.

What a driver will not do is make booking decisions. Changes to route, duration or price go through the office, so the agreed terms stay on record.

Different customers have different travel requirements

After answering thousands of enquiries, one thing is clear: no two bookings are quite the same. Many of the policies on this page came out of real customer situations rather than a rulebook, and telling us the situation in advance is usually what makes the day work.

Parents arranging travel to Cadet College Hasan Abdal

Parents in Lahore book a car for children travelling to Cadet College Hasan Abdal, and here the driver’s reliability and behaviour matter far more than the car. Before confirming, we discuss the journey, the driver’s responsibilities and any special instructions with the family.

Travelling with elderly parents

Families arranging travel for elderly relatives often ask us to tell the driver that extra rest-area stops may be needed along the way. Shared in advance, it becomes part of the plan rather than a negotiation on the motorway.

Northern Areas tours

Customers heading north ask whether the driver has driven mountain roads. Wherever possible we assign a driver familiar with those routes, because driving in the Northern Areas asks for different skills and experience than everyday city driving in Lahore.

Business travellers and overseas guests

Businesses across Lahore hire chauffeur-driven cars for meetings, client visits and visiting guests. Some ask for a presentable driver, others for an English-speaking one. Knowing before the booking lets us assign the most suitable driver available.

What If Something Is Not Right With Your Driver?

Call the office. If the driver we sent is not working out, we will arrange a replacement as quickly as a free driver allows, and you do not owe us a detailed explanation. Raising it with us rather than with the driver at the roadside also means the outcome is recorded against your booking.

A driver cannot reassign himself, and putting him in that position helps nobody. One call to us and the problem becomes ours to solve.

A comfortable journey runs both ways

On a full-day booking you and the driver share a car for twelve hours, and that works best when the courtesy runs in both directions.

Our side is fixed: verified drivers, safe driving, professional behaviour and respect for you throughout the journey. What we ask back is ordinary, and it prevents most disputes. Communicate clearly, allow for traffic, and bring any concern to the office so our team can resolve it fairly rather than expecting the driver to make booking decisions on his own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I hire a car and driver for just one day?

Yes. One day is the standard unit, and the rate is quoted per day. Longer bookings are priced differently rather than simply multiplied, so tell us the number of days when you enquire and we will quote the whole period rather than a day at a time.

Can I book a car with a driver on the same day?

Usually. Our drivers keep their cars in their own areas across Lahore rather than at a single office, which is what makes a car reach most addresses within 60 minutes of a confirmed booking, provided a suitable car is free. Larger and luxury models usually want a day’s notice. The same-day booking page has the detail.

Do you offer monthly car rental with a driver in Lahore?

Yes. Monthly hire is one of our most common long-term bookings, particularly for companies and for families hosting relatives from abroad. A month is priced as a package rather than thirty daily rates. Monthly pricing, driver duty on long-term hire and the rest of the terms are on the monthly car rental page.

Is there a kilometre limit on a car with a driver?

Not inside Lahore. The kilometre policy, and how outstation travel is priced instead, are set out in full with the Lahore rental rates.

Can the driver stay with us 24 hours a day?

Usually yes, on longer and outstation bookings. You provide suitable accommodation and meals while he is with you, and any additional charge is agreed before the booking is confirmed rather than raised at the end. Round-the-clock availability still does not mean round-the-clock driving; the driver needs a sleep window.

Does the driver take the car home after duty hours?

In most cases, yes. Once the daily duty is complete the driver takes the car back, unless another arrangement was agreed before the booking. If you would rather the car stayed with you overnight, say so when booking. Many long-term customers photograph the kilometre reading at the start and end of each day’s duty, which settles any question about fuel.

Can the driver collect us from Lahore airport and continue to another city?

Yes. Airport pickup followed by travel to another city is a common booking, particularly for overseas Pakistanis arriving for a family event. Give us the arrival flight, the onward city and the number of days, and we will price it as one booking rather than as separate trips.

Do you also offer self-drive cars?

Yes, on different terms. Self-drive is weekly rather than daily, limited to selected cars in Lahore, and requires a security cheque, and it costs more than the same car with a driver because the risk sits differently. Eligibility, documents and pricing are on the self-drive car rental page.

Who do I contact if there is a problem during the journey?

Our office, on 0300 5404055, available 24 hours on phone and WhatsApp. Every booking is coordinated by our team, so we can redirect the trip, agree a change or send a different driver. Bringing it to us also means the outcome is documented against your booking instead of settled verbally at the roadside.
